This July sees the European premiere of my short opera Bay of Fundy at Opera at Castalia in Kilkenny on Saturday 12th July. Also on the programme are Nancy van de Vate’s In the Shadow of the Glen and Ralph Vaughan Williams Riders to the Sea. The following day, the 13th, at 4pm there is a lovely recital featuring Songs from Kate O’Brien – my song cycle with text by Mary Coll – and some pieces from my piano album Magic.
I loved this little festival last year, my good friend contralto Sarah Ellen Murphy was performing the role of Flora in Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Medium. We popped along with our picnic baskets and bottles of sparkly somethings to enjoy the beautiful setting and inspiring music. I am very excited about this year!
