Magic – a collection of works for solo piano

I am thrilled that my first album – Magic – a collection of works for solo piano – was finally released last month.   The album features work from my catalogue as far back as 2007 (the title track which, admittedly, had to be reworked somewhat to fit in with the rest of the album) and some new pieces which the pianist, Aoife Chawke, had to drag out of me within weeks of going into the studio to record.

The whole process was, of course, a learning experience and working with Aoife, Jim Armour from Callan Studios, Claire O’Rorke photography and Dutec printers was an absolute pleasure.  It was one of the easiest and best humoured project I’ve ever done.  And the result?  An album I am truly proud of – we released as a CD, download and a book of sheet music and all are available to buy online or in music shops in Limerick.

The launch in Rathkeale Arts Centre was a bundle of laughs with Steve Spade performing close up magic while guests sipped champagne and Aoife showing off both her pianistic talent and her cake baking skills.  We were indebted (once again) to our friends and family who helped with the set-up, the hosting and the clean-up (the friends and family always get the really glamorous jobs).  To add to the excitement LyricFM (the Irish classical station) gave one of the pieces a spin the same afternoon.

So spread the word – if you have the album perhaps submit a review on www.cdbaby.com or as a comment here.  If you haven’t bought a copy yet pop over to iTunes or CDBaby to download.  Alternatively you can message me directly to order the book or a CD.

Here’s to the next one!
